Bad nettiquette?

So, I added pics of my trip to Kingston with friends without asking permission. I was told this was bad etiquette - what do we all think out there?

I'm slowly coming to realize that it's more and more difficult to keep things private in this digital age. There will be things said, posted, pics taken that I can't control or shouldn't worry about as, on the whole, they hopefully well reflect part of who I am. However, I respect that not everyone thinks this way and it's always good etiquette to ask before making someone else's pic or data public.

If they are a friend and they have nothing to hide I would be surprised them being upset. If they are an aquaintance I would ask. If someone asked for permission for an innocent photo I would think they are being too particular. Just my opinion.

Technically, they are pictures in a camera that you own so you don't really need to ask. People can't copyright themselves.

For example, when signing a photo wedding contract, the photographers claim ownership of the photos and the client is buying the photos from the photographer.

As a teacher, I have to be really careful about what gets posted of me because kids have an amazing way of finding out stuff on the net. I think it's important to be careful of the content of the picture.

If they're pics of friends, I say post away (unless they're really upset). Don't so much post pics of strangers :)
